Some programs may be looking specifically for male or female adult volunteers to serve as mentors for young men or women from families in which adult figures of the same gender are absent or only available on a limited and inadequate basis or who are troubled and at risk for delinquency; or for people who are willing to serve as peer role models. Also included are volunteer opportunities for career mentors, i.e., professionals who are willing to be paired with people who have an interest in their occupation/job.

Organizations that are actively seeking individuals who are willing, on a voluntary basis without remuneration, to decorate or otherwise prepare a facility for a special event e.g., set up tables and chairs or put up/take down a tent; help with participant registration; staff an information booth, manage a silent auction table or do other work during the event; and clean up afterwards.

Event Setup/Cleanup Volunteer Opportunities

Programs that develop, maintain and make available to the public, indoor and outdoor areas that are appropriately configured and used for horseshoes.

Horseshoe Pitches

Recreational programs that are actively seeking individuals with the requisite skills and experience who are willing, on a voluntary basis without remuneration, to provide leadership as the coach or assistant coach of an athletic team whose members are generally children or youth who want to play T-ball, baseball, basketball, soccer or other sports. Also included are volunteers who are willing to instruct children and youth in the skills associated with a particular sport.

Coaching Volunteer Opportunities

Organizations that are actively seeking individuals with the requisite skills and experience who are willing, on a voluntary basis without remuneration, to take responsibility for planning and coordinating special events. Activities may include arranging event logistics, renting  suitable space, overseeing decoration of the facility or other preparations, assigning tasks to supporting staff/volunteers and supervising their activities, and ensuring that the event runs smoothly.

Event Coordination Volunteer Opportunities

Educational institutions that are actively seeking individuals with knowledge and experience in specialized areas who are willing, on a voluntary basis without remuneration, to teach a special class or seminar in that subject (which may be academic or vocational) in situations where the school is unable to bring in a regular teacher for the job.

Offers community support for veteran and Gold Star children and spouses. Support includes luncheons and dinners, and attendance at sports events, amusement parks, wildlife parks, and other entertainment options.
