Prosecutes violations of state laws that occur within Gila County. Offers diversion programs for first-time felony offenders. Assists with adoptions. Provides advice and defense to Gila County government agencies and employees.

Community-based programs that provide individual and group counseling, educational services or other prescribed social services for adults who have been arrested for an offense such as drunkenness, domestic violence, drug crimes, traffic violations or purchase of sexual services and directed to participate in a corrective program in lieu of prosecution or, in some cases, sentencing for the offense.

Adult Diversion

Programs that provide assistance for people who want to independently adopt a child, legally relinquish a child for adoption or initiate or respond to litigation which involves the placement or removal of a child.

Adoption Legal Services

The chief prosecuting officer for the county who is responsible for initiating charges and prosecuting people, including juveniles, who have been accused of felony and misdemeanor offenses; enforcing laws which require responsible people to support their dependents; and investigating allegations of major fraud, organized criminal activity and corruption as well as unlawful conduct by public officials.

District Attorney

The attorney and legal advisor for the county who renders legal advice to county and district officers relative to official duties; represents county flood control, all school districts and the Superior and Municipal Courts in litigation to which they are parties; and, in certain prescribed cases, defends county and district employees.

County Counsel

Provides civil legal services to at-risk youth through the Court Advisor Program, Free Advice Clinic for Teens, Guardianship Project, Guardianship Clinic, Teens @ Work Program, and Adoption Project.

Programs that accept used computers and associated hardware, refurbish them if necessary, and keep them for use in their own program or donate them to other nonprofit organizations.

Computer Donation Programs

Programs that provide assistance for people who are in favor of or want to oppose the appointment of a guardian to care for and/or manage the affairs of a child or adolescent during minority. The court may appoint a guardian of the person in situations where there is no parent to meet the child's needs due to death, incapacity, abandonment, military service or other reasons; and/or a guardian of the child's estate. In the latter situation, the guardian is given responsibility for managing the child's funds, collecting and making an inventory of the child's assets, keeping accurate financial records, and regularly filing financial accountings with the court.

Child Guardianship Assistance

Programs that are staffed by lawyers who offer information and guidance regarding legal matters, proposed lines of conduct, claims or contentions including opinions on the party's rights, responsibilities and liabilities; and who offer suggestions for an appropriate course of action, but do not represent clients in court.

Legal Counseling

Prepares legal paperwork for adoptive parents, files adoption petitions, and represents the adoptive parents at all court hearings for uncontested adoptions.
