Real Estate Donation Programs

Nonprofit organizations that accept automobiles, trucks, vans and other vehicles used primarily for transportation purposes as donations from individuals who want a tax write-off. In most cases, donated automobiles are sold to raise funds for the organization, but some programs repair the vehicles, if necessary, and keep them for their own use, give them to individuals or families who have no means of private transportation or donate them to other nonprofit organizations for use in their program or for distribution to the people they serve.

Mutual support groups whose members are families and friends of people who have died by suicide. The groups meet in-person, by telephone or via the Internet; and focus on helping participants overcome feelings of helplessness and responsibility for the actions of the individual so they can express their grief, move through the bereavement process and put their lives back together.

Suicide Loss Survivors Support Groups

Programs that provide legal assistance that helps individuals who have been convicted of a felony regain the civil rights they lost as a consequence of the conviction following completion of all the terms and conditions of their sentence. The rights felons lose, which may include the right to vote, to hold public office, to serve on a jury, and to hold certain types of state occupational licenses, and the process by which they may be recovered are primarily governed by state law and vary by jurisdiction.

Post Conviction Restoration of Civil Rights

Programs that provide instruction for adults and eligible minors who have elected to take a series of tests which measure the extent to which they have gained the knowledge, skills and understanding ordinarily acquired through a high school education. Instruction and testing focus on writing, social studies, science, reading and mathematics. Individuals who pass the tests receive a high school equivalency certificate.

High School Equivalency/GED Test Instruction

Programs that offer workshops or other forms of training or support which help executive staff, managers and supervisors in nonprofit organizations, small businesses or other groups develop effective problem solving and decision making skills. Topics may include problem definition, problem analysis, decision analysis, associated risks and opportunities and problem solving tools and techniques. Participants learn to maximize their critical thinking skills, systematically organize and prioritize information, set objectives, evaluate alternatives, and analyze their impact.
